Defence forces to be readied for terror combat

TANZANIA has announced it will enhance its security and defence forces to fight terrorism, robbery, human trafficking and piracy, the growing threat for the regional’s peace and economic growth.
Defence and National Service Minister, Dr Hussein Mwinyi, noted on Wednesday that although the East African region has been hit by a series of civil wars and disputes between states, recent acts of terrorism, armed robbery, human trafficking and piracy have become serious threats to peace and economic development.
The minister outlined that the government was well placed to fight the acts to ensure peace and security and hence foster economic growth smoothly and without let or hindrance.
