Over 1,500 migrants were rescued from unseaworthy boats in the central Mediterranean off Libya at the weekend, Italy‘s Coastguard said Monday.
On Saturday, the Italian Coastguard and Navy saved over 600 people from nine inflatable dinghies and two small boats in nine different operations, the coastguard said in a statement.
