MAST achieves ISO 28007 accreditation

Maritime Asset Security and Training (MAST) Ltd, the maritime security and training specialist, announces today that it will be one of the first Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs) to attain ISO PAS 28007 accreditation.

ISO PAS 28007 lays out guidelines for ISO 28000 compliant PMSCs to ensure they demonstrate compliance with all legal requirements for providing Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP) on board ships.

Working with MSS Global, the specialist certification body, MAST has successfully completed Stage 1 of the ISO standard 28007 and is now working towards stage 2, which forms part of a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accreditation pilot window scheme.

This is the first international accreditation of its kind which applies to PMSCs operating in high risk areas. It demonstrates transparency and accountability to clients, showing how operatives can legally, safely and effectively guard shipping.

Phillip Cable, CEO of MAST stated, “We always aim to meet the highest standards and therefore it is extremely important for us to be one the first to achieve this. It's also excellent news that the UKAS is piloting this accreditation scheme as it's vital for the industry to have core international standards so that potential clients can assess the quality of PMSCs across the globe.”
