In the Gulf of Guinea, one hijack incident has been reported in the period observed. A new UN report has looked at the fall in piracy and shift by criminal organisations into illegal bunkering and oil theft. The Nigerian Navy has suggested that oil theft figures released by the NNPC may not be correct.

In the Indian Ocean Region, the US Navy has interdicted a further shipment of weapons and equipment suspected to be from Iran and bound for Yemen.

In European waters, the new sanctions on Russian oil have come in to force. Ukraine has made its first Grain from Ukraine shipment to Ethiopia. Small boat crossings from France to England continue, with French authorities rescuing over 240 people at sea in one 24-hour period.
