In the Gulf of Guinea, a merchant ship has been boarded by armed men and is not responding to calls or appearing on AIS. On March 28th, the vessel was seen but is not apparently under crew control. The Nigerian armed forces have continued to clamp down on oil theft, destroying over 100 illegal refineries in a two-week period.

In the Indian Ocean Region, a MV was fired on by unknown persons off Hodeidah, Yemen. EU NAVFOR and the US Navy have conducted combined patrols in the Arabian Sea. The Royal Navy and Indian Navy have also completed a joint maritime exercise.

In European waters, a naval mine detonated off Odessa, causing damage to a resort building. Ukraine reportedly launched an unmanned surface vessel and unmanned aerial vehicle attack on Russia’s Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol.
