Royal Navy on frontline as UK looks to de-escalate Iran tension
MOD says Plymouth frigate HMS Montrose is in the region, but refuses to confirm if she is escorting British oil tankers

Plymouth-based Royal Navy Type 23 frigate HMS Montrose is at the frontline of the current tense stand off with Iran – which has threatened to target British shipping after Royal Marines from Plymouth boarded and seized of an Iranian tanker believed to be smuggling oil to Syria .
Yesterday, the Royal Navy appeared to be escorting British registered oil tanker Pacific Voyager through the Strait of Hormuz, with reports it was a type 23 Frigate.
