The Nigerian Ports Authority has called for support and cooperation from the Inspector General Police in charge of the Maritime and the Nigerian Navy, calling for an end to vessel, barge and port facility attacks. With publications reporting on apparent increases in attacks, there are concerns that incidents are not being reported to relevant authorities.

EU NAVFOR has provided updates on a recent pirate attack onboard the MV Anatolia, in the Indian Ocean. The attack saw armed pirates open fire with small arms and RPGs, which damaged the bridge, but caused no harm to those onboard.

In Europe, we are continuing to see the vast scale of the migrant crisis with 800 migrants crossing the English Channel on Saturday, a new record for the number of crossings in a single day.
