As part of a defence sales contract between BAE and the Sultanate of OMAN, BAE was obliged to discharge a commitment to the Sultanate of OMAN and engaged MAST as its strategic training partner. The training aim was to ensure that OMAN had a capability to interdict and board vessels within OMAN/s territorial waters and conduct search and evidence preservation.
Key areas of training included:
- Navigation and boat handling
- Boarding and search techniques
- Tactical questioning
- Preservation of evidence
- Language training
- Medical training
600 men were trained over the course of the programme.
